Dr Begoña Perez Valderrama is a senior staff physician and Head of Genitourinary and Gynecological Tumors Program at University Hospital Virgen del Rocío (Spain). She graduated in medicine from University of Cantabria in 2001 and followed her internship and residency in Medical Oncology in University Hospital Virgen del Rocío, where she´s been a consultant in the Medical Oncology Department since 2006. She has a University Master’s Degree in Genitourinary Tumors from the Complutense University of Madrid and a University Expert of Molecular Biology and Oncological Drugs of the National Distance University (UNED).

Dr Perez Valderrama was tutor of the Internship Program of Medical Oncology and member of the Local Clinical Trials Ethics Committee both at the Virgen del Rocio Hospital during 2008-2012 and Head of Central Nervous System Tumors Program (2009 – 2016).  With participation in numerous clinical trials as principal investigator and sub-investigator, she was designated Head of the Genitourinary Tumors Program (2008-2012 and subsequently since 2018). During several years, Dr Perez Valderrama was Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor of the Master’s Degree in Clinical Trials at the University of Seville.

She is a member of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), of the Andalusian Society of Medical Oncology (SAOM), of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and of the Spanish Genitourinary Oncology Group (SOGUG), this last one, where she was member of the board of directors too during 2015-2021.  Also affiliate member of the European Reference Networks for Rare and Complex Urogenital Diseases and Conditions.

Dr Perez Valderrama has published more than 40 national and international publications in the field of Genitourinary Oncology. Currently participating in the development of the Clinical Practice Guidelines of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) and other guidelines of the Spanish Group of Genitourinary Oncology (SOGUG). She is an ad hoc reviewer of international scientific journals on genitourinary pathology.
